Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying with a 36-point deficit Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final bend on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber P3, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
