It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Initially recognized as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her bow and seven world titles have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Many contend the reasoning behind final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this knock followed six innings in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it has been a challenging time because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"But once you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, dismissed by the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 balls as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
